Year 10
In year 10 the coursework portfolio comprises of a 3D mask design inspired by the natural world and a fine art unit of work inspired by Me, Myself & Identity. Pupils are encouraged to develop ideas through sketchbook work and there is a strong emphasis on working from direct observation, researching and making connections with the work of relevant artists/designers as well as exploring and experimenting with different materials, methods and processes. Written annotation is positively encouraged and reviewed regularly. Each year the department runs a three day field trip to London or abroad in order for pupils to experience first-hand many of the great artists work. At the end of the year pupils sit a mock exam (3hrs).
